INA Needle Roller Bearing & Cam Follower FAQ

Get the INA component details right before you order. These answers come from Guided Motion Company, a Hong Kong-based specialist INA component supplier, and cover how we identify parts, check inner rings and washers, quote, ship and handle receipt.

Most asked

Top questions from engineers and buyers

Most INA orders that fail to fit come down to three things: a missing inner ring, a cam follower with the wrong stud thread or profile, or a part number that could not be read. Start here.

01 · Inner rings

Do I need to order an inner ring separately?

Often, yes. Many INA needle roller bearings run directly on a hardened shaft. If your machine design calls for an inner ring, it has to be specified as its own part number. We check this against your model or drawing before quoting.

02 · Cam followers

What dimensions do you need for a cam follower inquiry?

Send the INA model if you have it, plus the roller outside diameter, stud thread and outer ring profile. A correct roller diameter alone is not enough; thread and profile mismatches are the usual reason a replacement will not fit.

03 · Identification

The marking is worn. How do you identify the model?

Send clear photos of any remaining markings with the main outside dimensions and, where available, the assembly drawing. We use these to narrow down the INA product series, then confirm the exact specification with you before quoting.

INA bearing questions by topic

Each answer starts with the short version. Questions are grouped in the order a typical inquiry runs: identify the part, check the mating components, get a written quote, then ship and verify on receipt.

01

Selection & identification

What information do you need to identify an INA part?+

The INA part number is the fastest route; add the outside dimensions and any mating components. A complete inquiry includes:

  • INA model and overall dimensions
  • Stud thread or roller outer ring profile (for cam followers and track rollers)
  • Inner ring and washer part numbers, if your design uses them
  • Quantity, destination country and postcode, required date
The nameplate or bearing marking is worn. Can you still identify it?+

Usually, yes, if you send enough to measure against. Send clear photos of any remaining marks, the main dimensions and the assembly drawing if you have one. We use these to narrow down the INA product series and confirm the exact specification with you. We do not quote until it is confirmed.

Which INA product types do you supply?+

We focus on INA parts for compact bearing arrangements and guided motion:

  • Needle roller and cage assemblies
  • Drawn cup needle roller bearings, open or closed end
  • Machined-ring needle roller bearings and inner rings
  • Axial needle roller bearings and matching washers
  • Combined needle roller bearings
  • Stud-type cam followers and yoke-type track rollers

Can you check a part against my assembly drawing?+

Yes. We check parts against the original part number, the dimensions and your assembly drawing. That way the mounting space, mating surfaces and any required inner rings or washers are part of the check, and you are not working from the bearing alone.

02

Cam followers & track rollers

What dimensions should I send for a cam follower inquiry?+

Send the roller diameter, stud thread and outer ring profile, plus the INA model if it is legible.

DetailWhy it matters
Roller diameterSets contact with the cam or track
Stud threadMust match the tapped hole or nut in the machine
Outer ring profileDetermines how the roller runs on the track surface
Photos of markingsHelps confirm the series when the model is incomplete
The roller diameter matched but the replacement did not fit. Why?+

The stud thread or outer ring profile was probably different. Two cam followers with the same roller diameter can differ in both. We confirm all three details before quoting, so the replacement fits the existing mounting and track.

Do you supply yoke-type track rollers as well as stud-type cam followers?+

Yes, we supply both. Stud-type cam followers are for cam and track applications. Yoke-type track rollers are supplied to the size and outer ring profile you need. Tell us which type your design uses, and send the mounting details.

03

Inner rings & washers

Do I need to order an inner ring separately?+

If your machine design uses an inner ring, yes, it is usually a separate part number. Machined-ring needle roller bearings and their inner rings are specified individually. Leaving out the inner ring is a common reason a needle roller assembly will not fit when it arrives. Send the design reference and we will include the inner ring when we check your request.

Do axial needle roller bearings need separate washers?+

Often they do. Axial needle roller bearings work with matching washers, and those washer part numbers are easily left off a purchase list. Send the thrust assembly reference and we will check that the washers are included.

Can inner rings and washers be quoted with the bearings?+

Yes. Inner rings and thrust washers can go on the same quotation as the bearings, so the assembly arrives as a complete set. Each item is listed with its own part number and quantity.

04

Quote & order

What does your written quotation include?+

Every written quotation lists the commercial terms in full, so you can check it against your requirement line by line. It includes:

  • ✓Product part number
  • ✓Quantity
  • ✓Price and currency
  • ✓Stock status
  • ✓Estimated lead time
  • ✓Quotation validity period
  • ✓Applicable shipping and tax terms
  • ✓Product documents we can actually provide
Why do you confirm the specification before quoting?+

Because a quote for the wrong part wastes time on both sides. Before you accept a quotation, we confirm the exact specification, check that the assembly is complete, and ask whether you would accept a substitute that is clearly marked as one.

What should I confirm before placing an order?+

Check the specification, quantity, delivery details, payment arrangement and commercial terms on the quotation. Once all five are agreed, place the order against the quotation.

05

Shipping & receipt

How is shipping arranged?+

After you order, we agree the shipping method, the dispatch schedule and the shipping documents you need. Your destination country and postcode from the inquiry are used to work out shipping and tax terms on the quote.

What should I check when the parts arrive?+

Check three things against your order: product labels, quantity and appearance. For multi-part assemblies, also make sure the inner rings and washers on the order are in the shipment.

What if the goods received do not match my order?+

Contact us with your order number and photos of the labels, parts and packaging. The order number lets us trace the shipment, and the photos show exactly what is different, whether that is the label, quantity or appearance. Send them by WhatsApp at +852 5913 9345 or email info@inaoem.com.

Substitutes & changes

Will you ever ship a substitute or change the specification?

Never without your approval. A substitute is only offered if you say you would accept one, and it is listed as a separate line on the quotation. Any technical change must be approved by you, the buyer, first.

How are substitutes shown on a quotation?+

Any substitute appears on its own line, so it is never mixed in with the original part number. Before quoting, we ask whether substitutes are acceptable. If they are not, we quote only the specified part.

Who approves a technical change?+

The buyer does. Changes to dimensions, thread, profile or mating components go ahead only with your approval. That keeps your design engineer in control of what goes into the machine.

Still have a question?

Send a photo or part number on WhatsApp

The quickest way to get an answer is a clear photo of the part or its markings, the INA model if you have it, and your quantity. We reply with what we can confirm and what we still need.

  • ✓Photos of markings, the stud thread or the roller profile
  • ✓Assembly drawing or inner ring and washer references
  • ✓Destination country and the date you need the parts
